Edine Loosman | Senior Software Engineer Focus Enterprise Solutions since 2018 | 43 years | Curious | Analytical | Communicative | Flexible

Edine is a Senior Software Engineer at Focus Enterprise Solutions. “Working for a boutique company has a number of benefits. One being a short line to management and a very flexible way of working. We can quickly respond to changes, and we can be very agile in supporting our customers.”

A new direction

Edine has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Informatics. Why did Edine choose development? “I was looking through the list of available Bachelor of Science degrees and Computer Science was a new direction in 1998 – so I chose that. I fell in love with writing code and never looked back. I am incredibly lucky to have found something I love doing and to make a career out of it.”

In 2001 she started as a software developer in Navision Financials. She created a training / HR module for a customer. Later Edine did support development on another ERP, called Agresso Unit 4. In 2004 she started as an inhouse developer in Axapta 3.0, which has grown into what is called Dynamics 365 Unified Operations today.

“From day one, working as a developer in an EPR system was a great experience. I enjoy financials and business processes and how to solve complex business requirements via code is a great creative challenge.”

Working at Focus Enterprise Solutions

Edine is currently working as a Technical Architect on a number of Dynamics 365 Unified Operations implementations at Focus Enterprise Solutions. She also has the role of Development Coordinator and Communities of Interest representative. As Development Coordinator she ensures the development requirements are met for the D365 Unified Operations implementations and support customers.

“I would like to be part of a strong team of outstanding Dynamics 365 experts that can add value to our customers – to not just provide a financial and operational system, but to enable our customers to grow their businesses through continuous process improvements. Also being part of the ever-growing Digital Neighborhood enables us to provide more than just one area of expertise to our customers.”

Stay up to date

Edine thinks it’s important to visit events like Dynamics Minds, a Dynamics, a Dynamics 365 and Power Platform Community Conference. “We need to keep up to date with the developments in the Dynamics 365 UO space and we need to prepare for the future. The only way is to continuously learn and grow, individually and as a business.”

“A number of previous colleagues have mentored me through the years. The biggest lessons I learned were how to make a customer the centre of a D365 UO implementation, to Focus on the customer and work diligently to deliver an IT system that is sustainable and scalable.
